Meta CEO Zuckerberg criticizes competitors developing closed-source AI, saying they 'think they're creating God'

In an interview with YouTuber Kayne Sutter, CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg criticized competitors in the AI space for using closed-source technology, claiming that it was akin to "creating God."

"To accommodate people's diverse interests, we must develop a range of AI. Zuckerberg criticised businesses that create AI technology as closed source in the interview, saying, "I don't think AI technology should be monopolised or used by any one company to build a single core product."

'I get so tired of hearing from folks in tech about establishing the 'One True AI',' Zuckerberg continued. 'They believe they are making God or something, but that isn't what we are doing at all. It is unlikely to occur, in my opinion.'

"I don't think the best way to create an experience for people is to build a closed AI platform," stated Mark Zuckerberg. 'I want to give as many individuals the confidence to do new things as I can. And that's the essence of culture. It is not about one people's group ruling on behalf of all others.'

TechCrunch, an IT news site, commented that Zuckerberg's comments come just after reports emerged that Meta had been in talks to integrate its AI into Apple's ecosystem but was turned down, so they come across as a bit of sour grapes.
